MUSICAL \/ THEATRE: “SEYMISTOVAN”<\/h3>\n

In the early eighties Elin performed as a singer in the music theatre play \u201cSeymistovan\u201d which played for full houses more than forty times.<\/p>\n

MUSICAL ACTIVITIES IN \u00c5RHUS IN THE 80\u2019IES<\/h3>\n

In the mid-eighties she was living in \u00c5rhus in Denmark \u2013 for a short while she sang and played keyboards in a rock band with the brothers Kaj & Karl Anton Klein a.o. and participated on a recording (published as MC) with them.<\/p>\n

Here is a photo from a party in \u00c5rhus \u2013 first one with Kaj Klein on guitar and J\u00e1kup Thomsen on keyboard, and the second one with Karl Anton Klein on guitar, Emil ? on bass and Edvard Nyholm Debess on drums, in 1983:<\/em><\/p>\n

Elin also conducted a small Faroese choir in \u00c5rhus at the same time – and a little a capella quartet for a short time.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

ELIN CONTRIBUTED TO SEVERAL ALBUMS IN THE 80’s<\/h3>\n

In the eighties Elin participated as a singer (mostly as backing choir) on several music album recordings with various artists. She sang backing choir on several songs on the abum SKOT by Kaj Klein<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The best known album is \u201cBl\u00e1tt\u201d by J\u00e1kup Marner Antoniussen, where she \u2013 among other songs \u2013 sang duet with J\u00e1kup Marner in the hit song \u201cT\u00fa og eg\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another duet song also became a hit on the Faroe Islands \u2013 \u201cMeg minnist eina mynd\u201d by Hans Andrias Djurhuus, which Elin sang together with J\u00f3gvan Telling.<\/p>\n

She also sang choir on the hit song \u201cL\u00edtli fuglur\u201d by Anfinn T. Hansen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elin has also sung several popular childrens songs on the Faroese public radio.<\/p>\n

THE TWO MAN POP BAND NALJA<\/h3>\n

In 1984 Elin and Faroese composer\/producer K\u00e1ri Jacobsen met at a party. Elin was 26 years old at the time, and K\u00e1ri only 16! Even though they were ten years apart and came from very different musical backgrounds, they found out that their chemistry was perfect.<\/p>\n

Shortly after they formed a two man pop band \u201cElin & K\u00e1ri\u201d, and in the summer of 1988 they published an album on music cassette called \u201cNALJA\u201d on the Faroe Islands. They wrote, composed and arranged all the music themselves, but Faroese legendary music producer, \u00d3li Poulsen, helped them produce the album. There were 10 tracks on the album. 5 by K\u00e1ri Linderoth Jacobsen and 5 by Elin Brimheim Heinesen.<\/p>\n

The songs on the pop album \u201cNALJA\u201d were kind of a reaction against all the political correctness in music, which was very common at the time. Elin has always insisted on making music, that has a right in itself \u2013 and not only<\/i> as a mean to promote something else\u2026 anything else but true feelings whether it is joy and happiness or sadness and despair.<\/p>\n

The album \u201cNALJA” was a pop album, which in a way was typical for the eighties with its Simmons Drums and other typical sounds for that time. It therefore reminded in many ways of other pop albums from that time. BUT it was also quite unique in a very \u2018Faroese\u2019 way, and became very popular as such. The songs on the album – which was re-released on CD in 1998 – still get a lot af air play at the Faroese radio channels.<\/p>\n
